If you are trying to replace the radio in your Mini, but have discovered that the sound no longer works when you plug in the new radio, you likely have a Harmon Kardon amplifier (amp) fitted. This means you will need an HKEnabler to allow the new radio to work.
The HK Enabler is designed for the BMW Mini – 2001 to 2007 – and includes the Mini One, Mini Cooper, Mini Cooper S, JCW, R50, R52 and R53 that have the Harman Kardon system fitted. If you look at the speaker grille it will have the words Harman Kardon printed on the silver edge. If you have this fitted and want to install a new radio (eg. Alpine, Blaupunkt, Clarion, Kenwood, Pioneer & any other make) you will need the HKEnabler adapter. With this unique adapter, the new radio will work and you will have your sound back so that you can enjoy your new radio.
